Dead Island: Riptide - Completed

New story, new zombies, new ways to explore the Zombie lands. Most of the reviews that are critical I wonder if they played the game as it is so much better than many of the new big ticket games out. This game does have new Zombie types!

It is a polished piece of work with the best zombie physics engine going. rich textures, great sound, amazing detail (water that gets cloudy the deeper you look).

A skill system that shows results immediately. Variable skill zombies, a weapon modification system, repeating quests and re-spawning zombies in public zones to always keep you on your toes. This game can scare the life out of you if you let it.

By far the best Zombie adventure I have played yet. There are not many games that can give you that trapped feeling when the zombies come. This game is a new use of an awesome engine that is a natural extension of the original Dead Island.

Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive - Completed

Beautiful game with memorable characters, great story and gameplay (excluding the final battle, which felt a bit awkward to me). A classic that offers more than it seems.

Sometimes the gameplay mechanics make it a bit harder than it should be to execute a command, making a seemingly easy moment frustratingly hard. The puzzles also vary from ridicilously hard to really clever and creative that can make the gameplay a lot easier if you know your characters and their special abilities. If you can get past some quickload-abusing chapters, Desperados will prove to be awesome, though.

A great wild west game that isn't based on gunning down gangsters, but on focusing on the whole and planning sometimes very complex strategies

Call of Juarez: The Cartel - Completed

I don't get all the hate and bad reputation this poor game has earned.

Sure, it isn't a Call of Juarez like the two before, or.. a Call of Juarez at all, as the only things in common are a guy called McCall, a trip to Juarez in a couple of stages, and the bullet-time which isn't as good as in the previous titles.

It wasn't ported perfectly on PC, that's true. You almost can't set up the graphics at all, there's a motion blur and a depth blur that can be annoying, but you'll get used to them pretty soon.
But for the rest? It's a simple action fps like tons of others, with badass characters "maxpayneing" their way against an army of bad dudes, a lot of gunfightings, explosions, car pursuits, a story that's maybe a bit confusing but overall good, great voice acting, the same easy controls as every fps...

It may not be the most original fps of all times, it's very linear and doesn't allow you to explore anything, but.. who cares? It's fast paced, funny and entertaining for all its length, and never bored me.

Give it a chance

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified - Completed

I feel the critics have been overly harsh with this game. I just finished it, having put in about 9 hours into it, I think I did the majority of the side missions too. It's definitely not Enemy Unknown, but I enjoyed it non the less.

The story was compelling, if a bit rushed in parts, and I wish they had incorporated some of the research and building aspects of Unknown but in the end I was completely happy with my purchase. The end of the game feels very rushed, and I would have liked a bit more diversity among my squad as I tended to use the same two every mission.

Definitely worth a buy though, as long as your expectations are right.

The Typing of the Dead: Overkill - Completed

The Typing of the Dead: Overkill tasks keyboard warriors with slaying countless hoards of ghouls and mutants via typing. Random phrases and words appear in front of each enemy and as you type the word the mutants are blasted to bits.

The game is loads of fun and at a discounted price, it is definitely a must buy. It also comes bundled with House of the Dead Overkill, allowing you to blast mutants normally with your mouse.

Hitman: Contracts - Completed

This game offers even more pathways to assassinate your target than the previous titles in the series. With a new conceptual and ideal story-line to fill in the gaps, the game is extremely dark and pure stealth.

Offering even more variety of weapons, not to mention all the classic snipers, along with dual wielding, not only of the legendary Silverballers, but other handguns. The game, unlike its predecessors, pushes you more toward accidental assassinations however.

Contracts is my favorite out of the Hitman series and is one of the classiest stealth games ever made. You cannot miss this game out.

Finding Teddy - Completed

I can't help but love the atmospheric little point-and-clickers that float around. Finding Teddy is not a length piece of work, but it's a good one. The story tells itself and the characters are well designed. The mechanics might be a little bit off at times and one shouldn't expect a game to play for weeks, but it should entertain most for a few hours.

Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse - Completed

If you're a fan of the TV series, then you will definitely enjoy this action packed third person shooter. If you don't mind the three to four hour length of this game, then you're already to go.

Now to speak about the price of the game; I did have some fun no doubt, but if you were to pay full price for this game, I think you would feel a bit ripped off. I was lucky enough to pick it up when it went on sale for -75% so I am quite happy with my purchase.

The voice acting I have to say was a little bit off, the actual writing seemed a bit weird at times which didn't follow the normal Family Guy script.

Pick this game up while on sale and you can't really go wrong.

Castle of Illusion - Completed

This is a very short and easy game, but level variety and the visuals create the well known Disney magic. If you really need a challenge you might want to check one of the more indie platformers out there. This is a game where you can sit back in your chair and relax for an evening.

Beautiful levels, classic Disney style music and magic all throughout. Like I said, the only cons of this title are the shortness, and there doesn't seem to be any support from devs, only a few niggling issues stand out such as no game icons on Steam, also you cannot seem to run the game any higher than 30 frames per second.

All in all, I would recommend this game to anyone who loves Disney. Especially play this if you played the original as a child, the nostalgia will be strong!

The Amazing Spider-Man - Completed

It took me a while to get into this Spider-Man game… At first the controls felt absolutely awful, really just un-smooth and clunky; however after a while you do start to get better hang at controlling Spider-Man and things do get a little easier… However, don’t get me wrong crawling on ceilings and walls is still a complete disorientating disaster!

As for the main campaign, I felt it was rather short and surprisingly easy to get through! The side-missions although fairly fun at first, the lack of variety does get slightly tiring! However, all that being said I have managed to play this game through, I enjoyed it and I do occasionally go back to pick up some collectables and such…

I think if you can get into the game and get to grips with the controls this can be a quite enjoyable experience.
